This project seeks to provide "travel advice" based on laws and practical safety within various jurisdictions. It is not geared towards people living in a state. However, information that might impact travelers in different situation will be mentioned. For instance, someone assigned to a business project for several months in a state may need to utilize medical care. Others may travel with children and be concerned about how this could be seen as child abuse or cause child custody issues.
This is not legal advice, and is not put together by a lawyer. This information is not guaranteed to be up-to-date or accurate. You should consult with an attorney with any questions.
A Place for Marsha is named after famous LGBTQ+ activist: Marsha P. Johnson. Here, we are connecting the Trans Community to help each other secure housing in states where Trans Rights are treated as Human Rights.
The mission of A Place for Marsha is to facilitate safe housing for trans individuals escaping transphobic states. Here, we connect trans people (18+) from states with heavy anti-trans legislation with volunteers in safer states who are willing to be their roommates.
A Place for Marsha is newly founded and needs your help getting off the ground. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us. All donations will go directly to moving costs.
The contents of this site will change over time as new additions and revisions are made to further expand upon the full breadth of Gender Dysphoria. In its current iteration it is severely lacking in non-binary, agender & genderfluid specific dysphoria, as well as Third Gender and Two-Spirit narratives. The GDB is an open source and publicly funded project, contributions are extremely welcome.
