Using RSS feeds full of vetted torrents, we can ensure that our cultural, intellectual and scientific heritage exists in multiple copies, in multiple places, and that no single entity or group of entities can make it all disappear.
Has a page of datasets it's protecting and a large number of RSS feeds tracking the health of other data sets (i.e., have they disappeared or not).
Never trust a computer that you do not own. The "cloud" is a network of computers you don't own:
- Data in the cloud is being used to train Al.
- Hackers can get it.
- The corporation running it can wipe whatever they want.
- Fascists could easily ban any commercial server or service.
- Media just... disappears...like on YouTube, streaming services....or the US government.
So download everything. Buy hard drives and hoard as you go. Mirror that data once or twice. Store a copy powered off and unplugged. Burn the super important stuff to archival grade M-DISCs. Run AirSonic or something open source to permit remote access of your media. And if you have some terabytes to spare, download and seed some torrents of public government information that has since been scrubbed from official websites.
This Go application creates a mirror of the Anna's Archive torrent page, providing an up-to-date list of torrents and their statistics. It includes features for tracking seeder history, generating custom torrent lists, and visualizing seeder statistics.
The application scrapes the full torrent list from Anna's Archive every 24 hours. It stores the torrent information in a SQLite database. Every 30 minutes, it updates the seeder, leecher, and completion statistics for each torrent. It provides a web interface to view the torrent list, individual torrent statistics, and seeder history. Users can generate custom torrent lists based on size and type preferences.
