Turn off AI Overview in Google, Set "Web" as default https://tenbluelinks.org/
Wed 22 May 2024 01:08:24 PM PDT archive.org

On May 15th Google released a new "Web" filter that removes "AI Overview" and other clutter, leaving only traditional web results. Here is how you can set "Google Web" as your default search engine for most popular browsers.

I don't expect this to work for longer than a week, but just in case I want to keep this link around.

DeArrow https://dearrow.ajay.app/
Sun 29 Oct 2023 06:58:36 PM PDT archive.org

DeArrow is an open source browser extension for crowdsourcing better titles and thumbnails on YouTube. The goal is to make titles accurate and reduce sensationalism. No more arrows, ridiculous faces, and no more clickbait.

"Clickbait" isn't the exception anymore, it's becoming the norm. Many have even started going through their entire backlog, changing old titles and thumbnails to be more attention grabbing and vague.

It's no one's fault. It's a system that creates a race to the bottom.

DeArrow hopes to stop this cycle. It's time to return to a more peaceful experience.

Available for pretty much every browser.

NetNauseam's Wiki https://netnauseam.codeberg.page
Tue 28 Dec 2021 02:45:58 PM PST archive.org

A Community-driven, FLOSS-licensed Wiki documenting unsolicited requests, metadata leaks, and privacy-invasive features in applications. Privacy is a complex topic, and can be very context specific. I, NetNauseam, believe the best approach to privacy is to simply stop all applications from leaking data and metadata to and through the network.

All information in this repo should be viewed as an opinion, not a fact, and I do not claim your privacy will be improved in any way by following any of these recommendations. These are complex topics with many edge cases and any guarantees are difficult, if not impossible, to make.

Brython: A Python 3 implementation for client-side web programming https://www.brython.info/
Tue 27 Jul 2021 03:17:15 PM PDT archive.org

Brython is designed to replace Javascript as the scripting language for the Web. As such, it is a Python 3 implementation (you can take it for a test drive through a web console), adapted to the HTML5 environment, that is to say with an interface to the DOM objects and events.

Speed of execution is similar to CPython for most operations.

The gallery highlights a few of the possibilities, from creating simple document elements to drag and drop and 3D navigation. A wiki lists some applications using Brython.
